Five Wongutha CAPS students were awarded certificates for their work in the school’s Conservation and Land Management program at a ceremony at the school today.
The awards were presented by Beth McKernan, Tamie Du Barrie and Geoff Young from the CALM Training Centre in Dwellingup.
Rosie Gerard and Tamara Seela were awarded Certificate 1 in Conservation and Land Management.
Raymond Anderson and Alisha Westlake were awarded with a Certificate 2 in Conservation and Land Managment, having earned their Certificate 1 qualification in 2003. This is the first time that Wongutha CAPS students have earned Certificate 2 level qualifications in any discipline.
Simone Williams was awarded a Certificate of Attainment for her work towards a Certificate 2.
Wongutha CAPS runs a CALM Bushrangers unit (part of Cadets WA), lead by teachers Gary Paul and Wayne Rogan, of which many students are members. The five students who received awards today are all student leaders in the Bushrangers. In addition, Mr Paul also teaches Conservation and Land Management as a VET (Vocational Education and Training) subject. It is through the VET course that these students have achieved their awards.
