Wongutha Christian Aboriginal Parent-Directed School (CAPS) provides education and training that will equip Indigenous youth to be confident and work ready members of the community.
Wongutha CAPS encourages students to consider the Christian faith and values as a basis for living meaningful and purposeful lives.
Wongutha CAPS is a non-government, year 11 and 12 vocational school for Indigenous students sited on a farm 27 kilometres north of Esperance. The school has both boys’ and girls’ hostels and accepts students from all across Western Australia. Wongutha offers targeted programs for students to become work ready including: literacy, numeracy, work education and life skill programs.Specialist Vocational Education and Training (V.E.T.) courses include Metals and Engineering, Building and Construction, Hospitality, Conservation and Land Management and Business.
Vocational Education and Training (VET) plays an important role at Wongutha CAPS helping students move from school to further education, training and employment. VET qualifications are recognised nationally and are industry endorsed. These courses combine relevant knowledge and practical skills that reflect current industry standards.
